The death toll from floods and landslides in Indonesia has risen to 502, with 508 people still missing, according to a new update from the disaster management agency.
The total number of victims in Indonesia, Thailand, Malaysia, and Sri Lanka has now exceeded 1,000, marking one of the worst natural disasters the region has witnessed in years.
Authorities continue to work on reopening destroyed roads and recovering the missing, while the cities of Tapanuli and Sibolga in Sumatra remain completely isolated.
Two navy vessels have been deployed to deliver aid due to the difficulty of reaching the besieged areas.
