Indonesia: Over 400 Dead in Floods and Landslides Hampering Rescue Efforts

Rescue teams in Indonesia are continuing efforts to reach isolated areas after floods and landslides killed more than 400 people, amid expectations that the toll will rise as bodies continue to be recovered.

Footage from the Disaster Management Agency showed entire neighborhoods submerged in water in the Aceh Tamiang area, where roads turned into muddy canals filled with wrecked cars and uprooted trees.

The floods destroyed vital infrastructure, cut communications, and isolated wide regions, making the delivery of humanitarian aid increasingly difficult.
