Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto called for calm after a motorcyclist was killed when struck by a police vehicle during anti-government protests in the capital, Jakarta.
The demonstrations erupted after revelations that lawmakers were receiving perks amounting to nearly 20 times the average monthly salary, sparking widespread public anger.
Protests spread to several cities, including Surabaya, Yogyakarta, Medan, and Bandung, with demands for accountability from officials.
