Iranian Foreign Ministry officials announced Tuesday that the country is reviewing options to respond to Australia’s decision to expel its ambassador in Canberra. The move comes after Canberra accused Tehran of orchestrating two deliberate anti-Semitic attacks in Melbourne and Sydney.
Speaking to the press, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmail Baqaei said, “Australia’s allegations of our involvement in anti-Jewish attacks are completely rejected. We are currently considering an appropriate response to their decision to expel our ambassador.”
This marks the first time Australia has expelled a foreign ambassador since World War II, escalating diplomatic tensions between the two nations.
