Iran has filed a formal complaint with the United Nations against the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and Kuwait, accusing them of allowing the United States and Israel to use their territories and airspace to carry out attacks against Iran.
The complaint was submitted in a letter by Iran’s Permanent Representative to the UN, Saeed Iravani, addressed to Secretary-General António Guterres and the President of the Security Council, according to Iran’s state-run Press TV.
In the letter, Iravani stated that countries bear legal responsibility if their territory or airspace is used for acts of aggression or armed attacks against other states, under international law. He emphasized that Iran had lodged a “strong and firm protest” against what it described as unlawful actions.
He also called on the four Gulf states to adhere to principles of good neighborliness and prevent the continued use of their territories against Iran.
Iravani stressed that Tehran reserves the right to take “all necessary and appropriate measures,” including the right to self-defense, to protect its sovereignty, territorial integrity, and political independence.
As of 09:00 GMT, no official responses had been issued by the four countries regarding Iran’s complaint and accusations.
