Iran launched a series of missile strikes on Israel early this morning, in a major escalation following four days of unprecedented confrontation between the two countries. The attacks came in response to Israeli airstrikes that had targeted military sites deep inside the Islamic Republic, including facilities in the capital, Tehran.
The Israeli military announced on Monday morning that it had carried out air raids on headquarters belonging to the Quds Force—the external operations arm of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).
In response, the IRGC released a statement confirming that it had launched “a new wave of missile attacks” which “accurately and successfully hit their targets in the occupied territories.” The statement warned that “effective, precise, and more destructive operations will continue against vital Israeli targets.”
This escalation raises concerns about the potential for a broader regional conflict.
