Iran’s Parliamentary National Security and Foreign Policy Committee head, Ebrahim Azizi, stated that more than 3,700 police officers have been injured during clashes amid nationwide protests.
Speaking at a press conference on Monday, according to Iran’s Mehr News Agency, Azizi said, “The number of injuries in the recent events is unfortunately high, although the exact figure is unclear.”
He added that the unrest caused damage to over 2,200 security vehicles, more than 250 schools, and 300 mosques, without providing precise figures on civilian and security personnel fatalities.
On January 11, Tasnim News Agency reported that 111 security personnel had been killed, while U.S.-based Iranian Human Rights Activists Agency (HRANA) reported that the total number of protest-related deaths has risen to 3,919.
