Iran Protest Death Toll Rises to Over 5,000, Rights Group Says

The Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA) said on Friday that the death toll from protests in Iran has risen to 5,002 people, including 201 security personnel.

The US-based independent agency reported that Iranian authorities have arrested 26,752 individuals across the country since the protests began.

On Thursday, HRANA had put the death toll at 4,902 before later updating the figure to 5,002, without clarifying whether the protests were still ongoing.

Meanwhile, Iran’s Foundation of Martyrs and Veterans said on Wednesday, citing forensic data, that 3,117 people were killed during the unrest, claiming that 2,427 of them were security forces and civilians allegedly killed by “armed terrorist groups.”
