Iran, Russia, and China Reject European “Snapback” Mechanism, Declare UN Resolution 2231 Expired

Iran, Russia, and China sent a joint letter to the United Nations, rejecting European efforts to activate the so-called “snapback mechanism” against Tehran.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi stated that UN Resolution 2231 expired automatically on October 18, 2025, in accordance with its original terms.

The three countries reaffirmed their commitment to dialogue and political solutions in addressing Iran’s nuclear issue.
