Iraq entered an electoral silence period on Saturday, one day ahead of the parliamentary elections scheduled for Sunday, as Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani called on citizens to participate widely in the vote.
The state-run Iraqi News Agency (INA) reported that the campaign blackout began at 7:00 a.m. local time (04:00 GMT), prohibiting political parties and candidates from engaging in promotional activities or campaigning until the end of the voting process.
On Friday, election commission spokesperson Jumana Ghalai told Anadolu Agency that the commission is “fully prepared to conduct the special voting on November 9, 2025, and the general voting on November 11,” confirming that polling centers and staff are ready.
