Sources close to Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani’s alliance told AFP that his “Development and Reconstruction” bloc achieved a sweeping victory in Tuesday’s parliamentary elections.
A senior official close to al-Sudani said the bloc “secured a very large win,” while two other sources indicated that it is likely to emerge as the largest parliamentary force, with around 50 seats or more in the new legislature.
