Iraqi Presidency denies knowledge of decision labeling Ansar Allah and Hezbollah as ‘terrorist organizations’

Iraq’s Presidency has denied having any knowledge of — or approving — the decision circulating on social media regarding the designation of Yemen’s Ansar Allah and Lebanon’s Hezbollah as “terrorist organizations” and the freezing of their assets.

In a statement, the Presidency explained that it had not received any official decision related to this matter, emphasizing that its role is limited to reviewing laws passed by parliament and presidential decrees, not decisions issued by the cabinet or by counter-terrorism and anti–money laundering committees.

It added that presidential departments had only seen the circulating decision online, without any prior official notification.
