The United Nations mission in the Democratic Republic of Congo said on Friday that Islamist rebels from the Allied Democratic Forces were responsible for killing 89 civilians in a series of attacks over the past week in the country’s east.
In a statement, the UN peacekeeping mission said the ADF carried out “bloody” attacks between November 13 and 19 across multiple locations in the Lubero area of North Kivu province, a region long plagued by armed conflict.
