Israel and Syria Resume Security Talks in Paris on 1974 Disengagement Agreement

Israeli newspaper Haaretz reported that representatives from Israel and Syria are set to meet on Tuesday in Paris to resume talks on a security agreement between the two sides.

According to Israeli sources cited by the newspaper, the meeting will include Israel’s ambassador to Washington, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s military secretary, and the head of the National Security Council.

A Syrian government source said the new round of negotiations will focus on reactivating the 1974 Disengagement Agreement.

Haaretz added that the U.S. Middle East envoy Steve Witkoff is expected to lead the American side in the talks.
