On Tuesday, the World Organisation for Animal Health reported that Israel had confirmed an outbreak of the highly pathogenic H5N1 avian influenza on a farm in the northern part of the country.
According to a report from Israeli authorities cited by the Paris-based organization, the outbreak affected a flock of 2,000 ducks, resulting in the deaths of 90 birds.
Reuters reported that the remaining birds were culled as a precautionary measure to prevent further spread of the virus.
