Nineteen Lebanese were killed on Sunday after an Israeli airstrike targeted a residential building in a southern town, amid ongoing hostilities that have continued for a week.

Lebanon’s National News Agency reported that Israeli warplanes carried out a strike at dawn on the town of Sair al-Gharbiyeh in the Nabatieh district of southern Lebanon.

The strike hit a three-storey residential building, completely destroying it and killing about 19 people, most of them women and children.

The agency said Israeli airstrikes on southern towns have continued, describing the attacks as “bloody massacres.”

Earlier overnight, 15 people were killed in a series of Israeli airstrikes targeting the capital Beirut and three towns in southern Lebanon, according to the National News Agency and Lebanon’s Health Ministry.
