Israeli warplanes launched a series of airstrikes on Wednesday targeting key sites in the Syrian capital, Damascus, including the General Staff Headquarters, the Ministry of Defense, and the vicinity of the Presidential Palace. The escalation comes amid renewed intense clashes in the southern province of Sweida.
According to Syria’s state-run Ikhbariya TV, the Israeli strikes on central Damascus wounded two civilians. Meanwhile, Israel’s public broadcaster cited a security source saying the army targeted the entrance to the General Staff building as a direct message to Syrian President Ahmad al-Shara in response to the situation in Sweida.
