Israeli Authorities Detain Around 200 “Freedom Flotilla” Activists, Transfer to Ketziot Prison

Israeli occupation forces announced early Friday that approximately 200 activists participating in the “Global Freedom Flotilla” headed for Gaza have been interrogated and transferred to Ketziot Prison.

According to a statement from the Israeli Prison Service, the activists, whose flotilla was intercepted by the Israeli military in international waters of the Mediterranean, “underwent thorough searches before being moved to Ketziot Prison (south) to complete procedural measures.”

The statement added that the Population and Immigration Authority has deployed teams within the prison, where dedicated courtrooms have been established to handle the legal files of flotilla participants.

The operation is ongoing “until all participants of the flotilla have been processed,” the statement said, without specifying the total number.

On Thursday, Israel’s official broadcasting authority reported that the navy had taken control of 41 out of 45 ships carrying around 400 participants.
