Israeli Military Says Airstrikes Targeted Iranian Air Defense Systems Near Tehran

The Israeli military announced Friday that its air force carried out overnight airstrikes targeting Iranian air defense infrastructure in the vicinity of Tehran, as part of a broader offensive campaign.

In a statement quoted by Agence France-Presse, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said, “The Israeli Air Force struck dozens of targets overnight, including surface-to-air missile sites, in an operation aimed at dismantling the Iranian regime’s air defense capabilities around the Tehran area.”

The strikes are part of Israel’s ongoing military operation, “Rising Lion,” which began early Friday and has focused on nuclear and military sites across Iran, reportedly resulting in the deaths of senior Iranian commanders and nuclear scientists.
