The Israeli occupation forces launched new airstrikes Saturday on several areas in the Gaza Strip, particularly around Khan Younis, after the failure of an exchange involving hostage remains.

Security sources said the strikes were accompanied by heavy gunfire.

The Al-Qassam Brigades confirmed it had handed over three unidentified bodies to facilitate the exchange, but the occupation refused to receive them.

No official death toll has yet been released following the latest bombardment.
