Japan will host the Ninth Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD9) in Yokohama from August 20 to 22, 2025, under the theme “Co-creating Innovative Solutions with Africa.”
The conference will focus on three newly introduced pillars. The first centers on developing mechanisms to support joint human resource development programs between Japan and African nations. The second explores the use of digital and green technologies, artificial intelligence, and space innovation to address development challenges through collaborative innovation.
The third pillar emphasizes strengthening international cooperation to support the African Union’s Agenda 2063 and promote trilateral collaboration among Africa, Asia, and Japan.
On the sidelines of the forum, the Japan Fair is expected to draw record participation, with 196 Japanese companies and organizations—including SMEs—alongside 45 national pavilions from African countries and over 21,000 visitors anticipated.
