Rwandan President Paul Kagame has appointed Justin Nsengiyumva as the country’s new Prime Minister, replacing Édouard Ngirente, who was dismissed on Wednesday, according to an official statement from the government spokesperson’s office.
Under the Rwandan constitution, the appointment of a new prime minister clears the way for the formation of a new cabinet within 15 days.
Nsengiyumva previously served as Deputy Governor of the National Bank of Rwanda, a background that signals a likely emphasis on financial reform and economic development in the upcoming administration.
The leadership change comes at a pivotal moment as Rwanda continues to push forward with its national development agenda and respond to regional and global economic challenges.
