Khamenei Accuses Protesters of Vandalism to “Appease Trump”

Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei on Friday accused some groups of protesters of vandalizing public property during demonstrations sparked by economic problems, claiming the acts were carried out to “appease” U.S. President Donald Trump.

Khamenei made the remarks in a speech while receiving a group of residents from the city of Qom on the anniversary of the 1977 uprising against the Shah’s regime.

He said: “Yesterday in Tehran, a group of vandals destroyed public property belonging to their own people in order to please the American president. If (Trump) is capable, let him go and manage his own country.”
