Kremlin Dismisses Report Claiming Russia Has Lost Nearly 1.2 Million People in Ukraine War

The Kremlin said on Wednesday that a report by a Washington-based research centre claiming Russia has suffered nearly 1.2 million casualties since the start of its war in Ukraine in February 2022 was not accurate, adding that such reports should not be regarded as reliable.

The report, produced by the Center for Strategic and International Studies, estimated that at current rates, combined Russian and Ukrainian casualties could reach around two million by the spring of 2026.

The Kremlin did not provide alternative casualty figures, and there was no immediate comment from the research centre on Moscow’s remarks.
