Iran’s Supreme National Security Council Secretary Ali Larijani said that a number of US soldiers had been captured during the ongoing war, without specifying when or where the incident occurred.
Larijani accused the United States of promoting what he described as misleading narratives to cover up the true scale of its losses in the conflict.
In a post published early Sunday on the social media platform X, he said the US administration initially claims that five or six soldiers were killed, then gradually increases the number over time, attributing the changes to accidental incidents, inaccurate information, or fabricated events.
There has been no official response from the US government regarding the Iranian official’s statement. However, Al Jazeera quoted a spokesperson for US Central Command as denying reports that American soldiers had been captured.
US Central Command had previously announced, on Monday, that six US soldiers were killed and 18 others seriously injured during joint military operations carried out by the United States and Israel against Iran.
