The Lebanese Army completed the fourth phase of its plan to collect Palestinian weapons from camps this Saturday morning, receiving 8 trucks loaded with weapons from Ain al-Hilweh camp in the south and Beddawi camp in the north.
This step comes within the framework of understandings between the Lebanese and Palestinian leaderships to confine weapons to the state, which began last August.
The Palestinian National Security Forces confirmed that the surrendered weapons belong to factions of the Palestine Liberation Organization.
This operation coincides with the Lebanese Army’s preparations to implement a government plan to disarm Hezbollah, placing the camp weapons handover in a broader context of asserting state sovereignty over all its territories.
