A Lebanese soldier was killed and others injured on Monday in an Israeli airstrike targeting a Lebanese army checkpoint in southern Lebanon.

In a statement, the Lebanese army said the checkpoint on the Qleileh–Tyre road was hit, resulting in the death of one soldier and injuries to others.

Lebanon’s National News Agency reported that the strike targeted a military checkpoint in the Ameriyeh area south of Tyre, causing casualties among army personnel.

The attack comes amid ongoing escalation, as southern Lebanon witnessed a series of Israeli airstrikes and artillery shelling earlier الاثنين, leading to additional casualties.

Since March 2, Israel has expanded its military operations in Lebanon as part of broader regional tensions linked to the ongoing war involving Iran.
