The Lebanese-Palestinian Dialogue Committee announced Thursday the launch of the first phase of disarming Palestinian camps, beginning with Burj al-Barajneh camp in Beirut, where an initial batch of weapons was handed over to the Lebanese army.
This marks a turning point after decades of armed Palestinian presence in Lebanon since the Cairo Agreement.
U.S. envoy Tom Barrack welcomed the move as a “historic step toward unity and stability.”
