Lebanon Expresses Readiness for Talks to End Israeli Occupation as Hezbollah Backs Army

Lebanese President Joseph Aoun said the country is ready to enter negotiations aimed at ending the Israeli occupation, emphasizing that any dialogue “requires mutual will,” which he said is still lacking.

He added that the talks should focus on reclaiming occupied lands and securing the release of prisoners, condemning ongoing Israeli aggression in the South and Beqaa.

Aoun urged the international community, particularly the EU and the U.S., to pressure the occupation to respect the ceasefire and allow Lebanese army deployment along the border.

Hezbollah called on the government to support the army in confronting Israeli aggression.

Deputy Secretary-General Naim Qassem praised Aoun’s stance, calling it “responsible,” and said true sovereignty comes through ending the occupation and rebuilding Lebanon.
