Lebanon’s investigative judge in the case of missing Shiite cleric Imam Musa al-Sadr has ordered the release of Hannibal Gaddafi, the son of late Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi, on a bail of $11 million, while imposing a travel ban on him.
A Lebanese judicial official told AFP that Judge Zahir Hamadeh approved the release after nearly eight years of Gaddafi’s detention without formal interrogation.
Hannibal Gaddafi was arrested in 2015 as part of the investigation into the disappearance of Imam Musa al-Sadr and his two companions during their visit to Libya in 1978 — a case that continues to stir controversy in both Lebanon and Libya.
