Libyan Army Chief’s Private Plane Crashes Near Ankara Following Electrical Fault

Berhanuddin Duran, head of communications for the Turkish presidency, said on Wednesday that the private plane carrying Libya’s army chief reported an electrical malfunction and requested an emergency landing before crashing near Ankara.

The aircraft, a Dassault Falcon 50, took off from Esenboga Airport in Ankara at 17:17 GMT on Tuesday bound for Tripoli. At 17:33 GMT, air traffic control was notified of an emergency caused by an electrical fault.

Turkish and Libyan officials confirmed that eight people, including three crew members, were killed in the crash.
