The Libyan Joint Military Committee (5+5) has reaffirmed its commitment to continue efforts to implement all provisions of the ceasefire agreement, including the withdrawal of mercenaries, foreign fighters, and foreign forces from Libyan territory, and the dissolution of all armed groups.
The statement comes five years after the agreement was signed on October 23, 2020, in Geneva, which called for a “comprehensive and immediate ceasefire across Libya” and required the withdrawal of foreign mercenaries within three months — provisions that have yet to be fully realized.
The 5+5 Joint Military Committee was established to oversee the implementation of the agreement and monitor developments, facilitating coordination between the conflicting parties in western and eastern Libya.
