Following a meeting of the “coalition of the willing,” French President Emmanuel Macron announced that 26 countries, mostly European, have committed to participating in a “reassurance force” by deploying ground, naval, or air troops in Ukraine.

The deployment would be part of guaranteeing any potential ceasefire agreement with Russia.

Macron emphasized that “the goal of this force is not to wage war against Russia.”

The French President confirmed he had received clear “American support” for these security guarantees after discussions with President Donald Trump.

He noted that the Europeans and Washington also agreed to tighten sanctions on Russia and on China for its role in financing Moscow’s war effort, should it continue to reject peace.
