French President Emmanuel Macron announced that his country will raise its defense budget to 64 billion euros by 2027, which is double what it was in 2017, emphasizing that “freedom requires strength.”
Macron called for European cooperation in the production and purchase of weapons and criticized U.S. trade policies.
He also revealed a French-German defense summit at the end of August and France’s readiness for strategic nuclear dialogue with European countries.
