Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro announced orders to deploy heavy weapons and missiles in the capital Caracas and La Guaira state on the Caribbean coast, in response to what he described as U.S. military movements in the region.

Maduro said the defensive plan is “comprehensive and detailed, street by street,” affirming that combat systems are fully prepared for any emergency.

The move comes amid escalating tensions between Washington and Caracas.
