Europe is experiencing major transportation disruptions amid an unusually heavy snowstorm, according to national weather agencies.

In France, hundreds of flights were canceled at Roissy Charles de Gaulle and Orly airports, while the Netherlands halted more than 700 flights at Schiphol and reported widespread train cancellations.

The storm also impacted the U.K. and Northern Ireland, where schools were closed and public services suspended, with snow accumulation reaching 30 cm in highland areas.
