The UN Refugee Agency announced that 20 migrants died and a similar number are missing after a boat carrying 97 people capsized near Italy’s Lampedusa Island, with 60 survivors rescued.

According to the agency, 675 migrants have died in the Mediterranean since the start of the year, prompting renewed calls for expanding legal migration routes.
