Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday pledged to hold those responsible for the explosion near Delhi’s historic Red Fort accountable, after the blast killed at least eight people and injured around 20 others on Monday evening.

Modi stated that authorities are working to identify the perpetrators, stressing that “no one involved will escape justice.”

Meanwhile, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh said that security and intelligence agencies are conducting a “swift and thorough investigation,” noting that the findings will be announced once completed. Speaking at a press conference in New Delhi, Singh emphasized that “those responsible will be prosecuted, and no leniency will be shown under any circumstances.”
