Morocco’s protest movement “Gen Z 212” on Friday called for the resignation of the government, following a sixth consecutive night of demonstrations demanding better healthcare and education services.
In a statement addressed to King Mohammed VI, the movement said: “We demand the resignation of the current government for its failure to protect the constitutional rights of Moroccans and to respond to their social demands.”
On Thursday, thousands of young protesters took to the streets in cities including Rabat, Casablanca, Agadir, and Marrakech in largely peaceful rallies. The demonstrations came a day after three people were killed by security forces’ gunfire during unrest, according to local media reports.
