Moroccan Youth Protesters Renew Demonstrations Demanding Reforms in Health, Education

Activists from Morocco’s youth movement “Gen Z 212” took to the streets again late Friday in several cities, demanding better healthcare and education services, an end to corruption, and the resignation of Prime Minister Aziz Akhannouch, according to an AFP correspondent and local media reports.

In the capital Rabat, dozens of young protesters gathered in front of the parliament, responding to the group’s call to demonstrate for the seventh consecutive day. They chanted slogans such as “The people want health and education,” “Freedom, dignity, social justice,” and “The people want to end corruption,” while others repeated, “No right, no left… love for the nation unites us.”

The Moroccan government, for its part, reaffirmed its readiness to engage in dialogue with the movement, urging that discussions move from the virtual space to official institutions.

Earlier this week, on Tuesday and Wednesday, several cities witnessed nighttime clashes and unrest that left three people dead. Demonstrations resumed peacefully on Thursday across the country, with some protesters in Rabat dressed in black to mourn the victims, following a call from the movement.
