Morocco officially booked its place at the 2026 FIFA World Cup after a resounding 5-0 victory over Niger on Friday at Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium in Rabat, sealing top spot in Group E of the African qualifiers.
The Atlas Lions’ dominant win ensured direct qualification, continuing their strong run in the campaign.
In Group A, Egypt moved closer to securing its World Cup berth with a valuable 2-0 home win over Ethiopia, thanks to penalties converted by stars Mohamed Salah (Liverpool) and Omar Marmoush (Manchester City) in the 41st and 45+2 minutes.
With 19 points, the Pharaohs now need a win against Burkina Faso in their next match to guarantee their ticket to the 2026 finals.
