Morocco’s “Gen Z 212” Movement to Resume Nationwide Protests Saturday Demanding Reforms and Release of Political Prisoners

Morocco’s youth movement “Gen Z 212” announced on Monday that it will resume nationwide protests on Saturday, calling for improvements in healthcare and education services, as well as the release of political detainees.

In a statement posted on Discord, the group said, “We will organize peaceful demonstrations across most cities of the kingdom on Saturday.”

The movement urged “all Moroccan youth and citizens to join in large numbers to support this movement until our just demands are met.”

It highlighted the right to quality education and healthcare for all, the fight against corruption, and the immediate release of all political prisoners detained for peaceful participation in previous protests as top priorities.

The statement also mentioned a “campaign to boycott certain products” without providing further details.

The group had temporarily suspended its protests last Saturday after nearly two weeks of daily demonstrations, some of which involved clashes with police and resulted in three fatalities.
