Myanmar Launches Third Phase of First General Elections Since 2021 Coup

Voters in Myanmar headed to the polls in the third phase of the country’s first general elections since the 2021 military coup.

The elections are being held in three phases across 265 constituencies under military administration.

Authorities reported a turnout of around 60% in the first two phases, amid criticism over limited political competition and the dominance of a military-backed party in most districts.
