Sébastien Lecornu, 39, assumed the premiership in France on Wednesday, succeeding François Bayrou, who was dismissed due to budget disputes.
In his first statement, Lecornu promised a “radical break” from previous policies, affirming his intention to work diligently with the opposition.
Lecornu, the third prime minister in a year, faces a significant challenge in passing the budget in a divided parliament and avoiding a no-confidence vote threatened by the “France Unbowed” party.
