At least nine civilians were killed when Boko Haram militants attacked Gajibo village in Dikwa district, Borno State, northeastern Nigeria, according to local official Rawa Gana Modu
Modu reported that the insurgents infiltrated the village on foot, opened fire on residents, and engaged in a firefight with local anti-jihadist militia members. The attack resulted in nine deaths, including two militia members, and several injuries. Troops from nearby Dikwa town, located six kilometers away, responded and repelled the attackers, killing ten militants in the process.
(ISWAP) have intensified attacks on civilians and security forces. The 16-year conflict has claimed over 40,000 lives and displaced approximately two million people, according to the United Nations.
