Pakistani media reported on Friday that nine people were killed after an avalanche hit a village in the northwestern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.

According to Geo News, the avalanche struck an inhabited house in the village of Domel, killing five men and four women, while one child was injured.

Heavy snowfall has also stranded hundreds of people on roads across several southwestern regions of Pakistan, prompting security forces to carry out rescue operations to evacuate those trapped by the snow.
