At least 11 civilians, including three children, were killed, and 31 others, including nine women, were injured by gunfire from Rapid Support Forces in the town of Shak Al-Nom, west of the city of Bara in North Kordofan, according to the Sudanese Doctors Network, which described the attack as “brutal and violating international law.”
The pace of battles in North Kordofan is accelerating, with the army reclaiming strategic positions in El Fasher and Al-Nuhud, while the Rapid Support Forces announced their control over “Um Sumima” before the army later declared its recapture.
Conflicting reports indicate at least 700 casualties from both sides during Sunday’s clashes.
These developments mark the latest in the ongoing conflict since April 2023 between the Sudanese army and the Rapid Support Forces, which has led to a widespread humanitarian disaster, particularly in Kordofan and Darfur.
