North Korea conducted tests of what it described as its “most advanced” multiple rocket launch system, the Korean Central News Agency reported, a day after South Korea said it had detected the launch of about ten ballistic missiles toward the Sea of Japan.
The agency said North Korean leader Kim Jong Un oversaw the test on Saturday, which involved 12 ultra-precise 600-mm multiple rocket launchers and two artillery companies.
Kim said the test would make Pyongyang’s enemies within a 420-kilometer strike range feel anxious and gain a deeper understanding of the destructive power of tactical nuclear weapons, according to the agency.
KCNA reported Sunday that the rockets hit their target in the East Sea at a distance of about 364.4 kilometers with 100 percent accuracy, demonstrating the system’s destructive capability and military value.
