An extraordinary meeting of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation’s executive committee at the level of foreign ministers, held in Jeddah, reaffirmed the centrality of the Palestinian cause and Jerusalem to the Muslim world and reiterated full solidarity with the Palestinian people.
In its final statement, the meeting strongly condemned what it described as illegal decisions and measures taken by Israel, the occupying power, aimed at imposing a new reality in the occupied Palestinian territories.
The statement said the steps include expanding settlements, asserting what it called sovereignty and deepening annexation and confiscation policies, including in Jerusalem, describing them as “null and void” and a flagrant violation of international law that amount to war crimes threatening regional and international peace and security.
There was no immediate comment from the Israeli government on the statement.
