The United Arab Emirates said on Monday that one person was killed after a missile struck a civilian vehicle in Abu Dhabi, about an hour after authorities announced they were intercepting missile and drone attacks coming from Iran.
The Abu Dhabi Media Office said in a post on the platform X that authorities responded to an incident in which a missile fell on a civilian vehicle in the Al Bahia area, killing a person of Palestinian nationality.
Earlier Monday, the UAE Ministry of Defense said its air defenses were dealing with missile and drone attacks originating from Iran.
The ministry added that sounds heard across several parts of the country were the result of air defense systems intercepting ballistic missiles and fighter jets intercepting drones and cruise drones.
It did not specify the number of missiles or drones intercepted.
